What causes it?
In the case of musicians, the carpal tunnel becomes inflamed by repetitive movements performed with the wrist by touching or to maintain stress positions for long periods of time.
How do I identify it?
The nerve damage is usually characterized by numbness of the affected area. Tingling, weakness in the affected fingers and severe pain in severe cases. If it is caused by playing the instrument, we will notice this sharp pain when we are studying. The movements we see in the image are those that can provoke this pain:

How to act?
As a first step, of course, we recommend going to the doctor. It is important that we keep rest, we stopped playing a couple of days to see how it goes. The main thing is to reduce inflammation in the area that is pushing us to the nerve. With rest, rehabilitation and stretching exercises we can get reduce this inflammation. Nerve damage may take time to disappear although the cause itself disappears, because the nerve pain can last. Do not lose patience.

How to prevent?

As we always say, we must be monitored while you study. Respect the breaks between sessions of work, look in the mirror, monitor tensions and not overburden. Heat before studying and work to have strong muscles to prevent us all these injuries.
