Seven
schools are turning to music and theater to prevent school violence
The
Ministry of Education, Universities and Employment collaborates with Spain
Yehudi Menuhin Foundation for the development of 'Muse' inclusion program
through the arts. This initiative, developed in seven centers in the region,
promotes the use of music, song, theater, dance and the visual arts as a tool
that promotes tolerance and prevent violent behavior or racism.
The
Director General of Educational Planning and Attention to Diversity, Begoña
Iniesta, yesterday visited the CEIP Barriomar of Murcia where he could check
the implementation of this program and the improvements that are being
experienced in living and reducing dropout. This action emphasizes dialogue and
interaction between different cultures and the development of creativity and
imagination in the practice of the arts as a basis for education.
Iniesta
said that in the areas in which it has worked with Yehudi Menuhin, a foundation
that has an agreement with the Ministry of Education for teacher training,
"shows an improvement in teaching by the change in the most active
methodologies and participatory teachers as well as the improvement of school
success, harmony and reducing truancy. "
The
work is done through workshops in theater, dance, music and visual arts, taught
by artists with teaching experience, in which it is intended that participating
children channel their creativity, strengthen their self-esteem and improve
their vision of the school environment.
The
centers where it is implanted are public schools Barriomar of Murcia, Stella
Maris in Cartagena, San Cristobal de Lorca, Hernandez Roldan Ardieta Ramon y
Cajal Eagles, the EEC Primitiva Lopez de Cartagena and IES Sierra Minera de La
